Christmas and Holiday Traditions Around the World

Christmas and Holiday Traditions Around the World is perhaps the most magical time at Meijer Gardens! It's a world transformed with the glow of 300,000 lights, over 40 captivating international trees and displays, strolling carolers and horse-drawn carriage rides.
Now in its thirteenth season, this enchanting exhibit offers a unique holiday experience with something new to learn and see every year. Our activities, performances and demonstrations consist of a variety of cultures and countries, highlighting gift-giving customs, holiday traditions, superstitions, decorations and cuisine. New displays for 2007 include a Chinese New Year Display, a celebration of the Islamic culture Remadan and a large outdoor tree in our Volunteer Tribute Garden.
Another feature, the Gardens Holiday Express, designed by nationally-known railway garden designer Paul Busse, returns again this year with its seven-foot high train trestle and landscapes. The train display incorporates numerous natural materials such as cedar and hickory bark, twigs, grapevines, acorns, walnut shells, lotus pods, shelf fungus and even cinnamon sticks. A delight for a ages.
